My friend Radica sent me the coolest calendar for this new year, a calendar with sights from Sydney. She marked a few important locations on it, where they live, where work is etc. I love it! I love calendars as a reminder of the fabulous places I got to visit.
So, since January's almost over, I finally took my 2007 calendar down. Reluctant I must say, cause there are a few important dates marked and notes written on it. It's a calendar I bought in New York with different sights of the city.
But most of all, my special friend wrote a few bits on it. I looked at it carefully today, you can say there's a pre-'In Bruges' time marked on it, a 'during' time, and a post-'In Bruges' time. The making of that movie literally changed my life for a number of reasons, reasons I have written about on this blog, and reasons that I will keep to myself.
Pre...I found myself waiting for something not worth waiting for. I know that now. Yes for all of you who warned me over and over again, yes you were right, but I guess miss D had to find out for herself. I won't lose the lesson don't worry...
During...I had the best 3 weeks of my life. Also possibly the littlest sleep of my life ;-)
Post... great expectations and promises kept. Promises still being kept.
What a year...At the beginning of 2007 I read a horoscope that said the year 07 would bring major changes to my life. I remember thinking I wasn't ready for change at all. Looking back now this change was the best thing ever.
Mr F, I hope you will come sign my 2008 calendar soon.
I wonder what calendar I will have for 2009, where will this year take me ?
Only January and already took a trip to Spain, totally unexpected yay! Found myself on a movie set surrounded by Iraq soldiers and US soldier, big hummers and I think I even recognized good old Saddam. Muy bizarro!:-)
Next trip might be to Morocco. Who knows.
I just had a couple of very exciting weeks, our entire city of Brugge had 7 exciting weeks. Award winning director Martin McDonagh decided to shoot his new film In Bruges here, well, in Brugge. All over the historic center of the city. Trucks, filmsets, lights, cranes, ... everywhere.
Actors in this movie are Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes and more.
I met some really cool people from the crew. I got a chance to meet Colin Farrell, who was quite charming. I made a new, very dear friend (no not Colin ;-).
'In Bruges' is the darkly comedic tale of the fates of hit men Ray (Farrell) and Ken (Gleeson). After a difficult job in London, the team is ordered by their boss Harry (Fiennes) to cool their heels in Bruges. Very much out of their comfort zones, the men find themselves drawn into increasingly dangerous entanglements with locals, tourists, and a film shoot. Soon, their perspectives on life and death are violently skewed.
Filming's over now, the crew is gone. They finished the last shoots in London last week. No more Christmas decorations in the city, no more puzzled tourists wondering if we celebrate Christmas at a different time. It's empty. I miss my special friend.
